Happy New Year! I hope everyone is taking advantage of the long cool winter evenings and finding time to quilt and sew. I know I have been enjoying myself in my craft room!

She won the book Motif by Jeri Kelly.

Motif is a great book for any beginning quilter. You can make small wall hanging quilts with appliqued seasonal designs that are perfect for beginners. There are fourteen different designs for holidays and special occasions. If you want you could set a goal to make one a month, then at the end of the year you would have a terrific set of seasonal designs.

Never tried applique before? Applique involves cutting out shapes of fabric and attaching them to larger fabric to create a picture of design. There are various techniques to do that such as using fusible web, freezer paper or machine or hand sewing. You can create a very artistic looking quilt using applique techniques.
